One of the longest walks in the mournes takes in the 3 peaks of Slieve Beg, Cove Mountain and Slievelamagan. From the car park on head road head towards slieve Binnian the cut right at the mourne wall along side Annalong wood, just after the wood there is a track that heads right this will lead you up the vally towards the castles and the start of these peaks.
After 6km you,ll start to head up twards the brandy pad and around to the summit of Slieve Beg, look for the tricky route up the Devils coachroad before you get there.
At the top of the mountain stick to the right there are large rocky cliffs on Both Cove Mountain (Upper Cove) and Slievelamagan (LamaganSlabs) which you would have seen on the trek up the valley.
The view down the Devils Coachroad gives you an impresion of its steepness, not for the week hearted the shingle climb finishes off with a 10m rock climb to reach the top (not advisable in wet weather).
Almost in the center of the mournes here with Mountains all around you and at least an hour in any direction to a road, with Slieve Bearnagh in the distance (right) it doesn't get much better than this .
With Ben Crom reservoir below you and Silent valley in the distance all you can see are mountains mountains mountains....
Even on a nice day the weather can close in very rapidly so make sure your well prepared for every eventuality.
After summiting the other 2 peaks head down the steep sided Slievelamagan and follow the track back to the car park passing Blue lough and Annalong wood again. This is an exceptionally long walk for the mournes and can take up to 5hrs to complete
